Huskies Clinics and Team-Sponsored Fan Events

Field Hockey:

The University of Southern Maine Field Hockey Team will be hosting an Indoor Field Hockey Round Robin on Sunday, February 24 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Teams of a maximum of 12 players will play USFHA indoor field hockey rule games (6 players per side, including goalkeeper). For players aged 8-18. Work on developing the fundamentals of hitting, fielding and pitching with instruction USM Head Coach Sarah Jamo and the 2013 USM Huskies. Skills will be taught using different stations and drills. Clinics will be held from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the Costello Sports Complex field house. Get ready for your upcoming tryout and season! These popular clinics will focus on all individual aspects of softball as well as team concepts and will feature live situational games. The fee for each session is $50 or $45 with four or more registrations from your team. The clinics will take place at the Costello Sports Complex field house. Each participant should bring a glaove and sneakers (no cleats). Personal bats and helmets are recommended, however they will be provided if needed! These popular clinics allow players to learn proper pitching, defense and hitting techniques from the USM Baseball Staff & team. Players will also perform drills so we may make any necessary corrections. Defensive stations including throwing, pitching, infield, outfield adn catching. Join Head Coach Ed Flaherty, the USM Baseball staff and Ryan Flaherty of the Baltimore Orioles for a day of baseball instruction and skills. The fundamentals of hitting, pitching, infield and outfiedl will be taught. Ryan will be available to give autographs and insight into what helped him reach the major leagues and will also be actively teaching and working with players throughout the clinic. This annual and highly attended event is open to girls in grades 3-10. The clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., and will be instructed and coordinated by USM head coach Gary Fifield, the women's basketball coaching staff and players. USM head coach Gary Fifield has led the Huskies to national prominence during his tenure, including five trips to the NCAA Division III Final Four. Open to boys in grades 3-10, this annual shooting clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. This well attended event is instructe and coordinated by USM head coach Karl Henrikson and members of the USM men's basketball staff and team members. All facets of shooting fundamentals will be covered in this day long clinic. USM women's soccer players will be inviting member of the University's faculty and staff to attend their game against the University of New England Nor'easters. A post-game bar-b-que will be held.

USM Women's Soccer will host a free kids' clinic from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. prior to the day's games. The clinic is open to children of all ages. Children are encouraged to stay after the clinic, watch warm-ups and then escort Husky players onto the field for introductions. No registration is necessary! Just attend and have fun.

Hosted by the University of Southern Maine Huskies wrestling team, this tournament is open to Elementary (K-6), Middle School (7-8), High School (9-12) divisions and an open female division. [All divisions will be grouped by grade, weight and experience.] The entry fee for the event is $15 per wrestler.
