Huskies Clinics and Team-Sponsored Fan Events

Several University of Southern Maine Huskies' teams hold clinics/team-oriented fundraisers as well as fan experiences  throughout the academic year.  Below you will find a list of clinics and/or events sponsored by our individual teams.  


Women's Lacrosse: 

April 19, 2015 (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.) : Live | Love | Lax Women's Lacrosse Clinic (Grades 3-8) 
  • Join the University of Southern Maine women's lacrosse staff and players for this fun and informative clinic.  Players will learn proper passing, catching, shooting, defensive and offensive motion techniques.  Attendees will perform skill developing drills and particpate in a mini-scrimmage for assessment and will receive feedback and instruction. Bring your own sticks, goggles and mouthguards.  The clinic will take place in the Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse, please bring sneakers. Softball: 

March 1, 2015 (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.) : USM Softball Full Day Clinic (Ages 10-18)
  • Join the University of Southern Maine softball team and coaching staff and players for a day of softball instruction.  The fundamentals of hitting, pitching and fielding will be taught as well as team offensive and defensive concepts. The clinic will end with live situation games. We encourage several team members to participate together. Players will learn proper techniques and will receive feedback and instruction. Baseball: 

February 22, 2015 (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.: 25th Annual Winter Baseball Clinic (Grades 3-8)
  • Join Head Coach Ed Flaherty, the USM Baseball staff and its players for a day of baseball instruction and drills. The fundamentals of hitting, pitching, infield and outfield will be taught. Players will also perform drills and be provided with feedback on technique and form. Defensive stations include throwing, pitching, infield, outfield and catching. Hitting will have five stations that breakdown the swing. Players will by grouped by age and ability. Bring your own bat and glove if you have one. The clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse on the Gorham Campus of the University of Southern Maine.  Registration Materials: Baseball Clinic
March 7, 2015 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.): Advanced Baseball Clinic (Grades 9-12)
  • Join Head Coach Ed Flaherty, the USM Baseball staff and its players for a day of baseball instruction and drills. This clinic is geared for serious players with aspirations to play intercollegiate baseball and will be limited to 40 attendees.  The morning session will including pitching, hitting, and defensive play along with testing on running speed and arm strength.   The afternoon session will consiste of games in the spacious Costello Fieldhouse.  Position players will recieve at least two live plate appearances and pitichers will throw a minimum of one inning.  The clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex Fieldhouse on the Gorham Campus of the University of Southern Maine.  Registration Materials: Baseball Clinic

Women's Basketball: 

November 2, 2014: Huskies' Shooting Clinic
  • This annual and highly attended event is open to girls in grades 3-10.  The clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.,  and will be instructed and coordinated by USM head coach Gary Fifield, the women's basketball coaching staff and players. USM head coach Gary Fifield has led the Huskies to national prominence during his tenure, including five trips to the NCAA Division III Final Four. The fee for the clinic is $35 in advance or $45 the day of the clinic.  Participants are asked to wear sneakers and basketball clothing. All aspects of shooting fundamentals will be taught.  Registration Materials: Huskies' Shooting Clinic. 

Men's Basketball: 

November 9, 2014: Huskies' Shooting Clinic
  • This annual and highly attended event is open to boys in grades 3-10.  The clinic will take place at the Costello Sports Complex from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.,  and will be instructed and coordinated by USM head coach Karl Henrikson, the men's basketball coaching staff and players. Coach Karl and the rest of the Huskies will make this clinic and outstanding fun day for all participants. The fee for the clinic is $35 in advance or $45 the day of the clinic.  Participants are asked to wear sneakers and basketball clothing.
