Conter Named to NEHWA Division II/III All-New England Team

GORHAM, Maine  --  For the second straight year, senior defenseman Paul Conter (Woodbridge, Ontario) of the University of Southern Maine men's ice hockey team has been selected for one of the 18 coveted spots on the annual New England Hockey Writers Association Division II/III All-Star team.

Conter was among the award recipients who were recognized at the NEHWA awards banquet held recently.  The senior was among the six defensemen named to the Division II/III squad.

An ECAC (Eastern College Athletic Conference) Men's East honorable mention all-star this season, Conter is the first USM player to be named to the NEHWA squad multiple times, and the 11th player to be honored by the NEHWA, since 1989-90.

The fourth-year rearguard was the Huskies' leading scorer this past season netting 10 goals and collecting a team-leading 15 assists for 25 points.  He also had four power-play goals during the season.

During his four seasons with the Huskies, Conter played in 99 games scoring 33 goals, including 16 power-play markers, and passing out 62 assists for 95 points.  Among defensemen at USM, Conter ranks first all-time in goals scored and is second in career assists and points.

Southern Maine finished the 2010-11 season 8-13-5 overall and 5-11-3 in the league.
