GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference today announced that University of Southern Maine senior Matt Harmon (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) and freshman Will Wegener (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) have been selected for weekly recognition in men's indoor track and field.  Harmon was named the Field Athlete of the Week while Wegener is this week's recipient of the Rookie Track Athlete of the Week honor.

            This is the first weekly LEC award for each this season, and Harmon's accolade is the third of his four-year career.

            For the second straight meet this indoor season, Harmon took the top spot in the 35-pound weight throw and the shot put competing at the USM Invitational this past Saturday.  In the weight throw, Harmon won the event with a mark of 15.35 meters (50-4 1/2).  He took the top spot in the shot with a toss of 13.87 meters (45-6 1/4).

            Wegener won the 200 meters with his time of 23.27 seconds and earned a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash with his time of 6.72 seconds.  His 55-meter time qualified Wegener for the New England Division III Championships in February.

            The Huskies will travel to Brunswick, Maine, on Saturday for the Bowdoin College Invitational.
