Will Lundquist

GORHAM,  Maine – Freshman Will Lundquist (Augusta, Maine/Cony) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies men's cross country team has been named the Little East Conference Male Rookie Runner of the Week for the week ending Sunday, October 2, 2011.

         Lundquist helped Southern Maine capture the team title at the 2011 Pop Crowell Invitational hosted by Gordon College this past weekend in Wenham, Mass.  Lundquist was the sixth Southern Maine runner across the finish line, placing 25th overall in a field of 244 runners.  Lundquist maintained a steady pace of 5:41 per mile to clock a time of 28 minutes, 11 seconds as the Huskies' had six runners place in the top 25 of the event. 

         The win was the second team-win for the Huskies this season.  Southern Maine won the team title in their opening meet of the season at the University of New England.

         Southern Maine competes at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEIcAAA) Championship on Saturday (1:30 p.m.).  The race will be held at Franklin Park in Boston.
