With the pair of wins, the Bobcats extend their winning streak to seven games and improve to 12-6 on the season. Southern Maine dips to 3-25.
Trailing 1-0 after the Huskies' at-bats, Bates jumped on top of USM with seven runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to an 11-1 five-inning win. Three Bobcats has two RBI each, led by a 3-for-4 effort from junior AnnaMarie Martino (Plymouth, Minn.), including a two-run home run to left field in the first inning. Seniors Kiely Webster (Bethesda, Md.) and Lauren Dobish (Chambersburg, Pa.) each had two RBI. USM junior Katie Davis (Woburn, Mass.) was 3-for-3 with an RBI double in the first to lead USM.
In the second game, Martino again delivered the necessary offense for the Bobcats with a 3-for-3 effort at the plate with one RBI and three runs scored as Bates defeated the Huskies 8-1. Sophomore Alayna Garbarino (Reading, Mass.) and senior Courtney Talcott (Sutton, Mass.) each had a pair of RBI.
USM sophomore Meghan Craffey had two of the Huskies five hits in the game and was 2-for-3 at bat with a pair of singles. Davis added a double.
Southern Maine hosts Plymouth State on Wednesday (3:30 p.m.) in a Little East Conference doubleheader. Bates travels to UMaine Farmington on Wednesday (3:30) for non-conference doubleheader.
