USM Falls to Nationally Ranked Elizabethtown

            BRISTOL, R.I. -- The nationally ranked Elizabethtown College Blue Jays defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies, 41-3, in a dual match Friday night at the Recreations Center Gymnasium at Roger Williams University.

            Ranked 21st nationally in Division III, Elizabethtown remains undefeated in dual meet action improving to 7-0.  The Blue Jays also defeated Roger Williams, 31-12, in its second match.  With the loss, Southern Maine slips to 1-5 in dual meet action.

            Forfeits at 125 and 133 pounds gave the Blue Jays a 12-0 advantage prior to starting the eight contested bouts.  Elizabethtown won seven of the eight bouts, including two by major decision, one by fall and one by technical fall.

            Southern Maine junior captain Cinjin Goewey (Pittsfield, Maine/Maine Central Institute) registered the Huskies lone points of the meet, defeating Elizabethtown sophomore Colin Sheridan (Acme, Pa./Mount Pleasant) by decision, 4-3, at 141 pounds.

            Southern Maine returns to action on Saturday (10:00 a.m.) at the Scott Viera Roger Williams Invitational.
