Talbot and Boutin Named Women's Tennis Captains
CASCO, Maine – Junior Tegan Talbot (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat) and sophomore Emily Boutin (Old Town, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies women's tennis team have been named co-captains for the 2011 season. The announcement was made by third-year head coach Ron Chicoine.
Both Talbot and Boutin were recognized by the Little East Conference at the conclusion of the 2010 season with all-conference honors. Playing a majority of her time at fourth singles, Talbot earned first-team all-conference honors, tallying an impressive record of 8-3 as a sophomore. Against her Little East Conference opponents, Talbot had a successful 6-2 record. Two of her losses during the season occurred when she played higher in the lineup, while her record at fourth singles was 7-1.
In her rookie season, Boutin earned second-steam all-conference honors at fifth singles. Completing an extraordinary freshman campaign with an 11-1 overall record in singles action, Boutin was an equally outstanding 7-1 against conference opponents. Among her wins, Boutin was 2-0 at third singles and 1-0 at fourth singles when called upon to play higher in the lineup.
Southern Maine returns to action when it travels to Salem State on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference match.
