June Lavallee Ponitz, Class of 2000. A member of the only two softball teams (1998 & 1999) to advance to the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament, June Lavallee Ponitz excelled in both the classroom and in the outfield for the Huskies. A two time NFCA Northeast All-Region selection, Lavallee Ponitz was also a two-time Co-SiDa District One Academic All-America, earning first team honors as a senior in 2000. A career .381 hitter and two-time All-Little East Conference first team selection, Lavallee Ponitz finished her career with 165 hits in 433 at bats- possibly even more remarkable than her batting average is that she struck out just 11 times in her entire career. Lavallee Ponitz played an integral role in the Huskies 1998 LEC Championship. She is still fond in the top ten in several career leader records and currently holds the record for triples in a career with 18. She was named to the NCAA Northeast Regional All-Tournament team in 1999.
