Dan Smith, 1994- Dan Smith played two season for the Huskies’ men’s ice hockey team, helping the team into the ECAC North Tournament both seasons. The 1992-93 ECAC North/South Player of the Year, he led the Huskies to the 1993 championship game. He still holds school records for career and single-season goals against average and single-season save percentage. Joining the Huskies in the 1991-92 season, Smith had a 3.30 goals against average, .868 save percentage and one shutout. The next year, he posted an impressive 3.16 goals against average, a .906 save percentage and two shutouts. In addition to being named the ECAC Player of the Year, he was named to the All-ECAC North/South team and the New England Hockey Writers Association Division III All-New England team. Smith still owns two of the three lowest single-season goals against averages in school history. Among the career leaders, he is first in goals against average, second in save percentage and fourth in saves. Over Smith’s two seasons, the Huskies compiled a 31-22-2 record.
