GORHAM, Maine -- University of Southern Maine junior designated hitter Tucker White (Deerfield, N.H./Coe-Brown Northwood) has been honored for his outstanding 2012 season by being named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-America second team. The announcement was made by the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) last Thursday (May 24) at the NCAA Division III Championship in Appleton, Wisconsin.
White is the 23rd different USM player to be recognized by the ABCA with All-America honors since 1981. This is the second All-America honor bestowed upon White who was also named to the D3Baseball.com All-American second team recently.
An All-Little East Conference and NEIBA All-New England first team selection, White batted .392 (73 for 186) with 48 runs scored, 10 doubles, a school single-season record 10 triples, seven home runs and a team-leading 49 RBI. White also had a .451 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage, and stole 14 bases in 17 attempts. He also set the USM career record for triples with 18.
Southern Maine finished the season 27-19 overall and won the Little East Conference regular season title with an 11-3 mark, and postseason championship tournament for the first time since 1999. USM made its first trip to the NCAA Division III Regional since 2009.
