Southern Maine Third After First Day at USM Fall Classic
GORHAM, Maine -- The University of Southern Maine golf team sits in third place four strokes off the lead after the first day of play in the annual USM Fall Classic being held at the Gorham Country Club. The final round of the 36-hole event will take place Monday
Bowdoin College, paced by co-leader Tom Donleavy, is the first day leader after posting a four-man aggregate score of 306. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is in the second spot at 308 with the USM "Blue Team" another two strokes back at 310.
Senior captain Shaun McKinnon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) led the Blue squad carding a 5-over par 76. Juniors Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, B.C.) and Ryan Dee (Houlton, Maine), and senior Mathew Mallett (Kalamazoo, Mich.), are among a group of six players who shot 78.
Dunleavey shares the individual lead with USM senior Parker Sanderson (Bangor, Maine) as each carded a 2-over par 73. Sanderson paced USM's "Gold Team" which is in fourth place at 314. Junior Kyle Morin (Lewiston, Maine), playing with the Gold group, is among the group at 78.
