Huskies Conclude Fall Season

            BREWSTER, Mass. -- The University of Southern Maine men's golf team closed its 2018 fall season Monday with a 14th-place finish at the 84th Annual New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championships played Sunday and Monday at The Captains Course in Brewster, Mass.

            The Huskies posted a two-day score of 657.  Babson College, in second place after the first day, came from behind to take the team title with a score of 613.  Williams College, the first day team leader, was one shot back at 614.  Middlebury College was third at 618, followed by defending champion Husson University at 627 and Nichols College at 628.

            Senior Shaun McKinnon (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was the Huskies' low man with a 36-hole score of 161 (+17) after carding an 84 in the final round.  Classmate Patrick Henry, Jr. (Birmingham, Ala.) was one stroke further back at 162 after a final round 84.

            Completing the Huskies' four-man aggregate score were juniors Brendon Croteau (Lewiston, Maine) and Ryan Dee (Houlton, Maine).  Croteau had a final round 82 to finish at 166.  Dee posted an 85 in the final round for a two-day total of 168.

            Middlebury College's Reid Buzby was the individual champion with a 36-hole score of 1-over par 145.  Buzby carded an even par 72 in the final round.  Niko Gianelos of Babson was runner-up at 146.  Gianelos and Sam Goldenring of Williams had the best rounds on the final day with a 1-under par 71.
