Dundas Named GNAC Golfer of the Week

GORHAM, Maine -- For the third time in his career, University of Southern Maine senior Tristan Dundas (Abbotsford, B.C.) has been selected by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Golfer of the Week.  The GNAC office made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

In two events last week, Dundas was atop the leader board in both events.  He shared low medalist honors at the Maine Maritime Academy Mariner Invitational with senior teammate Kyle Morin (Lewiston, Maine) on Thursday (October 3) as both shot 5-over par 75's.

At the 36-hole USM Fall Classic on Sunday and Monday, Dundas came from behind to top the leader board with a score of 3-over par 145.  Dundas carded a 4-over 75 in the opening round to sit one shot off the lead.  In the final round, Dundas shot a season-low 1-under 70 to take the top spot.

A three-sport athlete (golf, ice hockey, lacrosse) at USM, Dundas has been the low medalist in three tournaments this season.  He was the GNAC Golfer of the Week on two occasions during the 2018 fall season.  In 10 competitive rounds this season, Dundas is averaging 75.4 strokes per round.

Led by Dundas, the Huskies have won six consecutive events this season, and eight of nine overall.  The Huskies won the Mariner Invitational with a score of 308, and took the USM Fall Classic with a team score of 597 (303-294).

Southern Maine will play for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship this coming Saturday and Sunday.  The two-day, 36-hole event is being hosted by Saint Joseph's College (Me.) at the par 71 Biddeford-Saco CC in Saco, Maine.  The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic berth to next spring's NCAA Division III National Championship.
