GORHAM, Maine –Freshman DJ Anderson (Houston, Texas/Davis) each earned a spot on the weekly honor roll from the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association as part of its weekly award program.
Named the MWBCWA Rookie of the Week, and the Litlte East Conference Rookie of the Week once during the season, Anderson is earning a spot on the MWBCWA Honor Roll for the second time this season after helping Southern Maine to a 1-1 week, including a 71-67 win over Plymouth State University. A shooting guard, Anderson averaged 15.5 points, four rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocked shots per game. Against Plymouth State, Anderson had 15 points, six rebound and two assists, shooting a solid 5-for-12 from the field with three, three-point field goals. At Rhode Island College, Anderson had 16 points, three rebounds, three steals, and assist and a blocked shots.
The Huskies' second leading scorer, Anderson is averaging 10.2 points per game and is shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three-point range. The 6-2 rookie is chipping in with 4.3 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per contest.
Southern Maine hosts UMass Boston (7:30 pm) in a Little East Conference game on Wednesday at Hill Gym.
