Huskies at Hobart and Skidmore This Weekend
GORHAM, Maine -- Two members of the University of Southern Maine men's ice hockey team were among the New England Hockey Conference's weekly honorees for the week of November 5-11that were announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Earning spots on the weekly honor roll were junior forward Cody Braga (Middleboro, Mass.) and junior goalie Paul Léger (Blainville, Quebec). The weekly citation is the first for Braga while Léger is receiving the second weekly honor of his career. Both played a significant role in USM taking three out of a possible four points last weekend.
The Huskies' leading scorer through four games with five points on three goals and two assists, Braga had a goal and an assist in USM's 2-2 overtime tie with Johnson and Wales University on Friday. Braga came back the next afternoon to next afternoon to score a power-play goal in the Huskies' 2-0 win over Suffolk University.
Léger earned his second career shutout, and first since November 22, 2016, when he made 20 stops in the win over Suffolk. With the shutout, Léger lowered his goals against average to 3.06 and improved his save percentage to .891 in two appearances this year.
Southern Maine, 1-2-1 overall and in NEHC play, heads to upstate New York this weekend to play NEHC contests at Hobart College on Friday (7 p.m.) and Skidmore College on Saturday (4 p.m.).
