Huskies Travel to Salem State on Tuesday
GORHAM, Maine -- The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced today that University of Southern Maine freshman forward Adam Withers (Kenora, Ontario) has been named the Rookie of the Week for the week of November 19-25. The conference office released its fifth set of weekly awards Monday afternoon.
The weekly honor is the first of Withers' USM career. He is the third USM player to receive weekly recognition from the NEHC this season. Juniors Cody Braga (Middleboro, Mass.) and Paul Léger (Blainville, Quebec) were selected for the weekly honor roll on November 12.
In the Huskies' lone game last week, Withers had a hand in three of USM's four goals in a 7-4 loss to nationally-ranked University of New England. The 5-foot-8 forward had a goal and two assists against the Nor'easters. With the three-point game, Withers moved to the top of the Huskies' scoring list with eight points on two goals and six assists through seven games.
Southern Maine, 1-5-1 overall this season, travels to Salem State University on Tuesday (7 p.m.) for a rescheduled non-conference game.
