Senior Charlie Mull Selected to Represent University of Southern Maine at 2018 NEISL Senior All-Star Game

 

GORHAM, Maine – Senior co-captain Charlie Mull (Portland, Maine/Cheverus) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' men's soccer team has been selected to participate in the  2018 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) Senior All-Star Game on Sunday, November 25 (1:00 p.m.) hosted by Brandeis University.  

A 2017 Little East Conference All-Conference first team selection, Mull is wrapping up an outstanding career as a member of the Huskies' soccer team. Characterized by his athleticism and versatility, Mull excelled at multiple positions for the Huskies over his career playing midfield, back and goalkeeper.  

Having played in 61 career games, and making 55 starts, Mull has three goals and three assists to his credit.  Taking on some of USM's toughest defensive assignments, Mull earned 2017 first team all-Little East Conference honors anchoring a Southern Maine defense that allowed just 1.69 goals against per game over the course of 19 games. 

Serving as the 2018 team captain, Mull exhibited leadership on and off of the field.  A Health Science major, Mull is a two-time William B. Wise Scholar Athlete (2016-2017, 2017-2018) – a USM Athletic  a USM Athletic Department Award given to student-athletes annually who have completed a full season of eligibility while maintaining a 3.0 grade point average or higher..  

"Charlie has been outstanding leader and member of our program since his first season," noted Southern Maine head coach Mike Keller. "He is a model student-athlete, and exhibits a team-first mentality and is willing to do what is best for the team. A tremendous member of the USM community, Mull's academic achievements and his play on the pitch are noteworthy.  His dedication, leadership and playing style has served as a role model for the younger players coming through out program.   Charlie is exceptionally deserving of this recognition."
