With its sixth straight win, UMass Dartmouth improves to 12-2 and advances to the championship match of the 2012 Little East Conference men's tennis championship on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) The Corsairs will await the advancing team from the second-seeded Bridgewater State University and third-seeded Western Connecticut State University match, which has been moved to Friday (3:00 p.m.) due to poor weather conditions. Southern Maine concludes its season with an 11-6 overall record and a 3-3 mark in Little East Conference play.
Junior Adam Whitman (New Castle, N.H./Portsmouth) scored the Huskies' lone point of the match. Whitman defeated UMass Dartmouth junior Karsten Rathlev (Winchester, Mass.) 6-2, retired at first singles.
Rathlev and classmate Guillaume Cotte (Grenoble, France) led the Corsairs from the top of the doubles order defeating Whitman and freshman Scott Gagne (Lewiston, Maine) 8-5 in first doubles. Sophomore Matt Bejtich (Rochester, Mass./Moses Brown) and senior Brennan Dugas (East Falmouth, Mass./Falmouth) took an 8-3 win at second doubles defeating USM senior Zach Caron (North Conway, N.H./Kennet) and sophomore Christopher G. Ross (Somerset, Mass.). IN third doubles, junior Mike Parker (Scituate, Mass.) and senior Brian Lui (Mefield, Mass.) downed the Husky tandem of sophomore Corey Dyke (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) and freshman Zac Cary (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) 8-1.
