UMass Boston Defeats Southern Maine 6-3
GORHAM, Maine  -  Senior Kyle Curley (Gorham, Maine) and junior Samuel Holland (Falmouth, Maine) were responsible for all three of the Huskies points but the University of Southern Maine men's tennis team fell to the UMass Boston Beacons 6-3 in a Little East Conference match Saturday afternoon at Gorham High School.

With the win, UMass Boston improves to 2-0 in the Little East and 4-6 overall.  The Beacons have won four out of their last five matches.  Southern Maine dips to 0-2 in the conference and 0-6 overall.

Curley and Holland combined for an 8-4 win at first doubles defeating junior Austin DeLasse (Mexico City, Mexico/Shrewsbury) and freshman Alexander Cornerchero (Brookline, Mass.) at the top of the lineup, but the Beacons captured the second and third doubles points to take a 2-1 lead into singles action.

Curley and Holland put together a pair of solid wins at first and second singles respectively, but it wasn't enough as the Beacons swept the third through six position for the 6-3 win.  Curley defeated DeLasse with a strong 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Holland battled back from a deficit to defeat sophomore Josh Bhasin (Tulsa, Okla./Strawberry Fields) 6-7, 7-6, 10-7 at second singles.   UMass Boston had a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins at fourth and fifth singles and earned a win by forfeit in the final slot.
