Moody Leads Bates Heptathlon After Day One
LEWISTON, Maine -- University of Southern Maine junior C.J. Moody (Old Town, Maine) has the lead after the first day of competition in the seven-event, two-day heptathlon at the Bates Invitational on Friday. The final three events of the heptathlon will be contested on Saturday.
Moody had personal bests in the 60-meter dash (7.16 seconds), long jump (6.50 meters/21-4) and the shot put (10.67 meters/35-0 ¼), and tied for first in the high jump (1.82 meters/5-11 ½), to score 2,693 points. Moody leads his nearest competitor by more than 250 points.
Moody will compete at Bates in the final events of the heptathlon while his teammates are traveling to the Bowdoin Invitational.
