Gamage, 4x400 Relay Recognized by LEC
GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference recognized University of Southern Maine senior Drew Gamage (Sabattus, Maine/Oak Hill) and the Huskies' 4 x 400-meter team when it released its fifth set of weekly men's track and field honors Monday afternoon.
Gamage was picked as the Field Athlete of the Week for the first time this season, and the third time in his career. USM's relay combination of juniors Donivyn Harms (Westbrook, Maine/Rochelle [Ill.] Township), Cam Labrie (Conway, N.H./Kennett) and C.J. Moody (Old Town, Maine), along with sophomore Zach Hoyle (Sidney, Maine/Messalonskee), was selected as the Relay of the Week.
Gamage was named LEC Field Athlete of the Week after winning the triple jump (13.34m/43-9 ¼) and placing second in the high jump (1.90m/6-2 ¾) at the Reggie Poyau Invitational held at Brandeis University.
The relay quartet won the event at the Poyau Invitational with their combined time of 3:30.03 seconds, which ranks sixth in New England.
Southern Maine racked up 158 points to outdistance host Brandeis by 51 points. Merrimack College was third with 68 points and Bentley University was fourth with 61.
The Huskies will travel to Brunswick, Maine, this Saturday to compete at the Bowdoin Invitational II.
