Moody Leads Bates Heptathlon After Day One
LEWISTON, Maine -- University of Southern Maine junior C.J. Moody (Old Town, Maine) has the lead after the first day of competition at the Bates Invitational Heptathlon.
Moody posted the best performance in two of the four events that comprise the first day's competition. Moody had the quickest time in the 60-meter dash (7.22 seconds) and the best mark in the long jump (6.35 meters/20-10). Moody had the second best mark in the shot put (10.80 meters/35-5 ¼) and the high jump (1.81 meters/5-11 ¼). Through the first four events, Moody has scored 2,640 points to lead the field of seven competitors.
The final three events - 60-meter hurdles, pole vault and 1,000 meters - will take place on Saturday. Competition begins at 11 a.m.
