Huskies Quartet Posted Fastest Time in New England at USM Open III Meet
GORHAM, Maine -- The Little East Conference announced today that the University of Southern Maine's men's 4 x 200-meter relay has been selected as the men's indoor track and field Relay of the Week for the period ending January 27.
Competing at the USM Open III meet, the Huskies' quartet of freshman Tom Vesosky (Colchester, Vt.), sophomore Daniel Flaherty (North Andover, Mass.), junior Cam Labrie (Tamworth, N.H.) and freshman Michael Geary (North Yarmouth, Maine) posted the fastest time in New England to date this season with their winning time of 1 minute, 34.39 seconds.
This is the fourth time this season, and third straight week, that a USM men's relay has received the weekly LEC honor.
Paced by four individual first-place finishes and two winning relays, the Huskies compiled 122 points to finish third behind Bates College and Assumption College. Bates won the meet scoring 174 points while Assumption took the runner-up spot with 155 points.
Southern Maine will host a quad meet for its final home event of the indoor season this Saturday night (6 p.m.).
