Caron helped Southern Maine to a 6-2 record in the final eight games of its annual Spring Trip games in Florida. Hitting .444 from the plate on 12 hits in 27 at-bats, Caron had an outstanding .704 slugging percentage with two doubles, a triple and a home run, while driving in nine runs and scoring eight. The Huskies' senior shortstop was 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored in her team's 11-7 eight-inning win over Washington and Jefferson, notching both of her RBI in the eighth inning to help seal the win. In an 11-10 win over Worcester State, Caron had two RBI, including a solo home run in the bottom of the third to pull the Huskies' even with the Lancers at 6-6. Caron did not surrender a strikeout in her 27 at bats. In the field, Caron was steady amassing 11 assists and 19 put outs without an error.
Through 12 games of the 2016 season, Caron his batting .378 (14-for-37) with nine RBI and nine runs scored. She has two doubles, a triple and a home run for a .568 slugging percentage. She has a .955 fielding percentage with 23 put outs and 19 assists in 44 total chances.
Southern Maine hosts Bates College in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday (3:30 p.m.). The Huskies are 9-3 to start the 2016 season and are off to their best start since the 2004 season when USM finished 33-11-1.
