Davis, Kelly and Goode Earn All-Little East Conference Honors
GORHAM, Maine – Sophomores Courtney Davis (Woburn, Mass.) and Amber Kelly (Berwick, Maine/Noble) and freshman Sammi Goode (Bucksport, Maine) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' softball team have each earned post-season honors from the Little East Conference. The conference office made the announcement Tuesday morning following a vote of LEC coaches.  Goode and Kelly were selected to the all-conference second team, while Davis earned first team all-conference honors for the second time in her career.

In her first season with the Huskies, Goode made an immediate impact in the circle for Southern Maine earning second team All-Little East Conference honors as a pitcher.  Named the LEC Rookie of the Week once during the season, Goode was among the conference leaders in pitching.  Pitching 107.1 innings in her rookie season, Goode was fourth overall in the conference with 114 strikeouts and second against LEC opponents only with 51.   Goode averaged an outstanding 7.43 strikeouts per games, increasing her average to 7.60 per contest in the LEC.   With a 3.26 overall earned run average, Goode again stepped up her game against conference opponents lowering her ERA to 1.19, while limiting her opponents to an .186 batting average.

Kelly put together another strong season for the Huskies, earning second team all-conference as a utility player.  The Huskies' number two starting pitcher, Kelly filled the role of starting center fielder when not in the circle.  Tied for fourth in the LEC for wins, posting a 12-3 record, Kelly fired 110.2 innings for the Huskies, amassing 3.73 earned run average, 58 strikeouts and holding her opponents to a .286 batting average.

At the plate, Kelly hit a solid .328 with 39 hits in 119 at bats with 11 doubles, a triple and a homerun. She scored 30 runs and had a solid .404 on base percentage and drove in 14 RBI. Kelly's 11 doubles were good for second on the team, while her .328 batting average was fifth. In the field, Kelly displayed tremendous athleticism fielding from either the outfield or pitching position with 45 putouts and 36 assists.

In two seasons with USM, Kelly has a record of 23-12 with a 3.53 earned run average in 228.1 innings pitched.  She is hitting .347 over two seasons (82 games) with 91 career hits, including 24 doubles, which is good for 12th in USM career records.

A 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) Third Team All-Region selection and the 2015 LEC Rookie of the Year, Davis earned her second nod to the LEC's all-conference first team after hitting .402 with 53 hits in 132 at bats, including 13 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 30 runs batted in.   Davis' 53 hits and 13 doubles led the Little East, while her .402 batting average is tied for second in the conference.  Davis' 30 RBI were also good for fourth in the Little East.  The Huskies' starting catcher, Davis played and started in all Huskies' games catching each of USM's 252.2 innings.  Excellent defensively, Davis had 207 putouts, and 30 assists for a .979 fielding percentage.  She caught 10 runners stealing throughout the season and picked off three.

In two seasons, Davis has made a mark in the Huskies' record books.  Over 82 games, Davis is hitting .410, which is fifth in USM career records.  Her 114 career hits are currently 17th, and her 21 doubles are ranked 18th all-time.  Davis' 69 RBI are ranked 11th, while her six home runs are tied for 10th.  In the field, Davis' 413 put outs are ranked eighth, while her career .982 fielding percentage is tied for fifth.
