Five Huskies Earn 2019 Little East All-Conference Honors

GORHAM, Maine – Five members of the University of Southern Maine Huskies softball team were selected to the 2019 All-Little East Conference team for their outstanding play during the season following a vote by LEC member coaches.  Junior Kayleigh Bohan (Bedford, N.H.) and freshman Kaitlyn Nelson (Guildhall, Vermont/White Mountains Regional) earned first team all-conference honors, while juniors Alexis Brown (Malden, Mass.), Erin Martin (Biddeford, Maine) and Ashley Tinsman (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) were each selected to the all-conference second team.

A transfer from the University of Southern Maine, Tinsman earned second team honors as a catcher for the Huskies.  Playing in 39 games, Tinsman also played shortstop for the Huskies. Hitting .276, Tinsman jumped her batting average to .317 in conference games.  She collected 29 hits in 105 at bats with six doubles, a triple and one home run while knocking in 25 RBI.  Solid defensively, Tinsman threw out five runners during the season and had a .973 fielding percentage with 157 put outs and 21 assists.             Earning all-conference for the first time in her career, Bohan was honored as a designated player.  The lefty hitter hit .305 in 40 games (32-for-105) with 14 runs scored and 16 RBIs, including four doubles and a pair of home runs.
