GORHAM, Maine – Junior Jackie Luckhardt (Londonderry, N.H.) and freshman Victoria Harris (Altus, Okla./Lewiston) of the University of Southern Maine Huskies' women's basketball team were both selected to the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches' Association (MWBCA) Honor Roll for the Week ending Sunday, December 9.
Both Luckhardt and Harris played pivotal roles in a 2-0 week for the Huskies in Little East Conference action, extending the Southern Maine win streak to three games, and improving its record to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the LEC. It is the second time Luckhardt has earned honor roll recognition from the MWBCA and the third time for Harris, who was also named the MWBCA Rookie of the Week on November 12.
Averaging just under 10 minutes per game, Harris, a 5-11 center, continued her solid play off of the bench in the Huskies' front court. Harris had five points and two rebounds on 2-for-3 shooting from the field in a 60-51 win over Plymouth State. In a key LEC win over Rhode Island College, Harris was dominant in the Huskies' pivotal third quarter and finished the game with 10 points, three rebounds, two blocked shots and a steal. Shooting 4-for-7 from the field against RIC, Harris was 60.0 from the floor for the week. Harris is averaging 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocked shots through eight games of her intercollegiate career. She is shooting an outstganding 53.5 percen from the field, and has career-highs of 13 points vs. Thomas (November 10), nine rebounds vs. University of New England (November 14), and four blocked shots vs. UMass Dartmouth (November 28).
Luckhardt filled up the stat sheet in both wins for the Huskies contributing on both sides of the ball averaging 12.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 5.5 steals per game while shooting 41.2 percent from the field. Leading USM in rebounding in wins over Plymouth State and Rhode Island College, the Huskies' 5-4 guard tied her career-high in rebounds with eight against PSU.
In USM's 60-51 win versus Plymouth State, Luckhardt was 4-for-9 from the field for 14 points, adding eight rebounds, three assists, five steals and a blocked shot. In a win over RIC, Luckhardt tossed in 10 points to go with seven rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals. For the season, Luckhardt is averaging 8.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 3.0 steals per game and is shooting 44.4 percent from the floor.
Southern Maine travels to Regis (Mass.) for a non-conference game on Saturday. Tip off is 1 p.m.
