Huskies Host Johnson & Wales on Friday (4 p.m.)
GORHAM, Maine -- The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its initial set of women's ice hockey weekly awards for the 2018-19 season on Monday, including two awards going to University of Southern Maine players.
Senior Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.) was selected as the Goaltender of the Week for the third time in her career, and first-year forward Bridget Fagan (Millis, Mass.) was chosen as the Rookie of the Week.
Making her first start of the season on Saturday against Endicott College, Evangelista recorded 43 saves, including 16 in the final period, to help the Huskies earn a 1-1 overtime tie with the highly-regarded Gulls.
Fagan made her first collegiate goal a memorable one scoring the game-tying goal midway through the third period to give USM the tie with Endicott.
Southern Maine, 0-1-1 after the opening weekend of play, hosts Johnson and Wales University on Friday (4 p.m.) for an NEHC game at the USM Ice Arena.
