Binette Picked for the Weekly Honor Roll

GORHAM, Maine -- For the second straight week, University of Southern Maine senior Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.) has been selected for weekly recognition by the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).  Evangelista was named the NEHC Co-Goaltender of the Week, sharing the weekly honor with Suffolk University sophomore Kristen Caporusso.

In addition to Evangelista's weekly honor, USM sophomore forward Rylie Binette (Milan, N.H.) received a spot on the NEHC weekly honor roll.

In her lone appearance this past weekend, Evangelista made 43 saves, including 19 in the second period, to earn her fifth career shutout and backstop Southern Maine to a 1-0 win at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Evangelista lowered her season goals against average to 0.48 thru two appearances and raised her save percentage to .989 (86 of 87).

Binette earned a spot on the honor roll after scoring two goals and dishing off one assist in the Huskies' weekend sweep of Johnson and Wales University and UMass Boston.  She tallied an assist on the Huskies' opening goal and scored the third goal in an eventual 4-1 win over Johnson and Wales. The next day she scored the only goal of the game as USM defeated UMass Boston 1-0 in Boston.

Southern Maine, 2-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in NEHC play, hits the road this week to play reigning NEHC and NCAA Division III champion Norwich University on Friday (7 p.m.) and Castleton University on Saturday (4 p.m.).
