Evangelista Named NEHC Goaltender of the Week
GORHAM, Maine -- For the third time this season, University of Southern Maine senior Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.) has been selected for weekly recognition by the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC). Evangelista was picked as the Co-Goaltender of the Week along with Norwich University sophomore Emily Lambert.
In two appearances last week, Evangelista backstopped the Huskies to a pair of ties while compiling a 1.38 goals against average and a .969 save percentage. Evangelista registered 46 saves in USM's 2-2 overtime tie at Bowdoin College. In her next start at Plymouth State University, Evangelista recorded a season-high 49 saves, including 20 over the third period and overtime, in a 1-1 overtime tie.
Evangelista has made six starts between the pipes this season compiling a 1.26 goals against average, a .967 save percentage and a 1-1-4 record. She has one shutout this season, and made 40 or more saves in four of her six starts.
The Huskies, 3-5-4 overall and 3-4-2 in NEHC, are off until January 4-5 for final exams and the holidays. The Huskies return to the ice at the Delta Hotels Burlington Ice Hockey Classic hosted by Saint Michael's College.
