Nine Huskies on NEHC Women's All-Academic Team
GORHAM, Maine -- The New England Hockey Conference announced the women's 2018-19 All-Academic team this week including nine members of the University of Southern Maine women's ice hockey team.
Earning spots on the All-Academic squad were seniors Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.; Biology) and Joanna Scheidegger (Lyss, Switzerland; Exercise Science); juniors Amanda Piknick (Hyannis, Mass.; Liberal Studies), Grace Simmons (Buffalo, N.Y.; Nursing), Jill Hannigan (Portland, Maine; Accounting) and Whitney Padgett (Eden Prairie, Minn.; Exercise Science); and sophomores Delaney O'Connor (Kankakee, Ill.; Mechanical Engineering), Rylie Binette (Milan, N.H.; Health Sciences) and Shannon Colbert (Manomet, Mass.; Finance).
The All-Academic honor was the first for Binette, Colbert, Hannigan and O'Connor. Earning their second honor were Padgett, Piknick, Scheidegger and Simmons. Evangelista received the honor for the third straight year.
To be eligible for All-Academic recognition a student must carry a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and have completed one full-year at their current institution.
All ten NEHC institutions were represented with 146 student-athletes in total earning the honor.
