Southern Maine Falls to Endicott in Florida 20-4
CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Junior Jennifer Lacroix (Wrentham, Mass./King Phillip Regional) had a game-high four goals and an assist as the Endicott College Gulls defeated the University of Southern Maine Huskies 20-4 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game Sunday at Phillip Jones Stadium in Clearwater, Fla.
The win was the second straight for the Gulls and improved their overall mark to 3-2. The Huskies dropped to 1-2.
Lacroix scored three times, and four other players contributed one goal, in the opening 15 minutes as the Gulls built a 7-1 lead. The Gulls added three more goals in a span of 1:11 to increase their margin to 10-1 before USM sophomore Alex Farley (Buxton, Maine/Bonny Eagle) scored for the Huskies to break a run of seven consecutive Endicott goals. The Gulls finished the first half with a 13-2 advantage.
For the Huskies, junior Allison Irish (Lyman, Maine/Massabesic) had two goals. Farley and senior Aliza Jordan (Gorham, Maine) had the other goals. Senior goalie Hala Van Nostrand (Granby, Conn.) had 10 saves before giving way to sophomore Mariah Vaillancourt (Lewiston, Maine/Edward Little) who stopped six shots.
Sophomore Maya Feigenbaum (West Hartford, Conn.) had three first-half goals for the Gulls. Ten other players had at least one goal. Senior goalie Bella Rino (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin Regional) made three saves in the opening half. Rookie Annie Alofsin (Wakefield, R.I./The Prout School) played the second half recording one save.
Southern Maine is back in action on Tuesday (10 a.m.) taking on Albright College in the final game of its two-game Florida trip. Endicott will take on Springfield College on Tuesday (11:30 a.m.).
