WILLAMANTIC, Connecticut – Senior Maggie Bodington (Stratford, Connecticut/ Stratford) and junior Kaley Pratt (Milford, Massachusetts/ Milford) each had a goal to seal a 2-0 victory over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at the Mansfield Outdoor Complex.
With the win the Warriors advance to 8-7-3 overall and 6-0-1 in the LEC. The loss will conclude the season for the University of Southern Maine Huskies with a final record of 5-12-0 and 1-6-0 in the LEC.
At 21:15 Bodington found the back of the net off an assist from junior Alissa Beetle (Bethany, Connecticut/ Amity Regional) making it 1-0 in favor of the Warriors. The Huskies held off the Warriors but fell short 57:54 into the second half, when senior McKenzie Reimondo (Portland, Connecticut/ Portland) assisted Pratt for the second and final goal of the game.
The Warriors outshot the Huskies 20-3 including a 12-2 margin in the second half. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Canastra (Fairhaven, Massachusetts/ Fairhaven) played well to keep the Huskies in the game as she finished with eight saves. It was the Warriors goalkeeper junior Kayla Labrecque (Westhampton, Massachusetts/ Hampshire Regional) that earned the win with three saves.
