Eastern Connecticut Shuts Out Southern Maine 4-0

 

WILLAMANTIC, Conn.  – Aly Clarke scored twice to lead the Eastern Connecticut State University Warriors to a 4-0 win over the University of Southern Maine Huskies in a Little East Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Nevers Field.  

Clarke's pair of first half goals gave Eastern an 2-0 halftime lead as the Warriors improved to 10-5 overall and 5-2 in the Little East. Southern Maine, which entered the game tied for second in the conference with ECSU, stands at 11-4-1 with the loss and 4-3 in conference action.  

Hannah Goodale and Carlie Dreyfus scored the Warriors' third and fourth goal of the game respectively in the second half for the 4-0 final.   ECSU goalkeeper Kayla LaBreque made four saves to earn her second win by shutout of the season.  Southern Maine senior goalkeeper Taylor Canastra (Fairhaven, Mass.) made seven saves in the loss.  

The Huskies return to action on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.) at home against non-conference opponent St. Joseph's College.
