GORHAM, Maine – Senior Adela Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) scored 17 seconds into the second overtime period to lead the University of Southern Maine Huskies to a 1-0 double-overtime win over the Rhode Island College Anchormen in a Little East Conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Hannaford Field.
ON THE PITCH:
Southern Maine outshot RIC 27-9 but could not find the back of the net against the Anchormen, registering 13 shots on goal.
USM had two shots on frame in the first five minutes of action, and Allain's cross bar hit was in the fourth.
Kalilwa registered the game-winner in the 101st minute. The goal is her eighth of the year. Senior Emma Dennison (South Portland, Maine) earned the assist for her second assist and fourth point of the season.
Rhode Island College goalkeeper Erica Edwards made 12 saves in the loss. Southern Maine freshman Kayla Gorman (Windham, Maine) made six saves to earn the shutout.
Southern Maine travels to Keene State on Saturday (12:00 p.m.) for a Little East Conference match up.
