NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships
Kalilwa Finishes 12th in Triple Jump at NCAA D3 Championships
BOSTON -- University of Southern Maine junior Adela Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) finished 12th in the triple jump Saturday during the final day of competition at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Going into the event as the 13th seed, Kalilwa posted a mark of 11.48 meters (37-8) on the second of her three attempts to stand in 12th place after the preliminary round. The top nine competitors advanced to the finals. Kalilwa was competing at the indoor championships for the second straight year and improved her finish by four positions.
Sophomore Eka Jose of Washington University in St. Louis won the event with a jump of 12.16 meters (39-10 ¾) on her fifth attempt.
The NCAA championships mark the end of the 2018-19 indoor season for USM. The Huskies open their 2019 outdoor season at the Charleston Southern Invitational on March 22-23.
