Kalilwa Earns All-America Honors at NCAA Division III Championships
GENEVA, Ohio -- University of Southern Maine junior Adela Kalilwa (Lewiston, Maine) earned the first All-America honor of her career Thursday after finishing fifth in the long jump at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships being held at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Kalilwa, who broke her school record on consecutive attempts, was fifth in the competition with a mark of 5.86 meters (19-2¾) coming on her third attempt. She broke her previous record on her second attempt with a jump of 5.84 meters (19-2). The old mark was 5.82 meters (19-1¼) set on May 3rd at the New England Division III Championships.
The sixth individual to earn outdoor All-America honors in the history of the USM women's program, Kalilwa will also compete on Saturday in the triple jump.
