TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – University of Southern Maine senior Molly Carl (York, Maine) competed Saturday afternoon in the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country National Championship race held at the LaVern Gibson Course. The national championship race was hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Competing as an at-large individual, Carl covered the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23 minutes, 24.4 seconds to finish 190th overall. A 2011 cross country All-American, Carl earned her trip to the national final by finishing sixth at last weekend's NCAA New England Regional Championship.
Johns Hopkins University won the national title scoring 158 points. Wartburg College was second with 221 points, followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with 233, Williams College with 266 and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with 272.
Senior Christy Cazzola of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the individual title with her time of 20:53.3.
Thirty-two teams and 56 at-large individuals competed in the event.
