Huskies Earn Honor for the Eighth Consecutive Year
GORHAM, Maine -- The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced that the University of Southern Maine women's cross country team is among its list of 393 NCAA Division III men's and women's cross country teams to be named All-Academic Teams for the 2018 season.
To earn the distinction as an USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, the Huskies compiled a team cumulative grade point average through the Fall 2018 semester of 3.22 on a 4.0 scale, and competed in and compiled a team score at the NCAA Regional Meet.
Members of the team this year include seniors Haley Bantz (East Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic), Kiley Boerger (Essex Jct., Vt./Essex), Samantha Conley (Sharon, Mass.), Maria Escobar (Miami, Fla./Dorla Academy), Kelly Lynch (Harpswell, Maine/Mt. Ararat), Bryanna Phillips (Westbrook, Maine) and Lindsey Tufo (Swanville, Maine/Belfast).); and juniors Samantha Dow (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), Angela Dubois (Minot, Maine/Poland Regional), and Jess Regan (Dudley, Mass./Shepard Hill Regional).
Also sophomores Chance Isazu (Bangor, Maine), Allison MacKenzie (Minot, Maine/Edward Little), Hunter Mahon (Palermo, Maine/Erskine Academy), Sydney Sirois (Greene, Maine/St. Dominic) and Samantha Thompson (Westbrook, Maine); and freshmen Hafido Awil (Lewiston, Maine), Emily Colby (Lunenburg, Vt./Lyndon Institute), Toia Francis (South Portland, Maine), Mykayla Hoggard (Bangor, Maine), Ottilie McPhail (Bradford, Maine/Central), Rachael Raymond (East Waterboro, Maine/Massabesic), Isabelle Sossei (Wells, Maine), Taylor Woodward (Wilmington, N.C./New Hanover) and Quintezza Yardley (Bangor, Maine).
The Southern Maine women's cross country team has earned the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team distinction the last eight years (2011-2018).
